Membership
Any person or legal entity who owns (or is the exclusive licensee) the rights for when recorded music is broadcast or played in public in Kenya can join KAMP. we represent record companies i.e. from major names to small businesses and sole traders (self-producers), who are owners of sound recording. At times also known as authors of sound recording.
Record Labels
A producer of sound recordings or record label is defined as the natural or legal person(s) who take the initiaive and has responsibility for the first fixation of the performance or other sounds of a performance or the representation of sounds. In addition, a record label is also a publishing company that manages such brands and trademarks, coordinates the production, manufacture, distribution, marketing, promotion, and enforcement of copyright for sound recordings and music videos; also conducting talent scouting and development of new artists ("artists and repertoire" or " A&R"); and maintains contracts with recording artists and their managers. The term "record label" derives from the circular label in the centre of a vinyl record which prominently displays the manufacturer's name, along with other information.
